OUR LOVELY SURPLUS
Year: 2019
With Tianying Li
Plastics are always the ‘matter out of place’. They appear to originate from nowhere, bearing no visual reminiscence of their material origin. Meanwhile plastics never go away. Once produced, they join the eternal symbiosis with us, lingering between new and waste.
So is digital representation. Through photogrammetry and rendering, we made a real scene real. The genealogy of the image is as uncanny as that of plastics. In the digital image, our lovely surplus finds its home, and a happy ending.
